INDIANA BPW FOUNDATION

IN THE PAST

The Indiana BPW Foundation was established on March 31, 1991.  Since that time the Foundation has sponsored several activities.

They include:

1. The 8th Grade Essay Contest for all Indiana boys and girls.  This is sponsored through the Conni Richards Youth Fund.
2. The  Conni Richard's Golf Classic.
3. The "New Beginnings" program - a weekend conference designed especially for abused women throughout Indiana.  This program held workshops on self-esteem, career development, decision-making, career options and opportunities, and mentoring.
4. Each year the Foundation gives scholarships to women re-entering the workforce, changing careers, employed at least 20 hours per week, or are displaced workers who have applied to a post-secondary institution.  Scholarships given are:

                        Working Woman Scholarship

                         Women In Transition Scholarship

                         Dr. Bertha Beazley Endowed Scholarship

5. Choices projects from grant monies furnished by the Lilly Endowment, Inc. to BPW/IN.  These projects included:

                     a.  Mother/Daughter Programs

                     b.  Reality Stores^SM         

The Foundation continues to look into the present and future needs of women and children.
